Frequently Asked Questions
What is forest bathing?
Forest bathing, known in Japan as Shinrin-Yoku, is the practice of slowing down and mindfully experiencing nature through the senses.
Rather than hiking for distance, participants are gently guided through simple invitations that encourage noticing, breathing, listening, and connecting with the forest environment.
Research has shown that time spent mindfully in nature may help reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being.
What happens during a session?
Each guided experience lasts about two hours and typically includes:
• a short welcome and orientation
• slow walking through the forest
• guided sensory invitations
• quiet reflection time
• an optional tea and closing circle
The pace is intentionally slow, allowing participants to settle into a calm and restorative rhythm.
Do I need to be physically fit?
No.
Forest bathing is slow and gentle, and most sessions cover less than one mile with many pauses along the way.
You do not need hiking experience or athletic ability.
